Disneyland to Close ‘Indiana Jones Adventure’ and ‘Grizzly River Run’ For Refurbishment in January 2023

Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye

Disneyland Resort has announced that it will be closing both “Indiana Jones Adventure” and “Grizzly River Run” for refurbishment in January 2023.

Indiana Jones Adventure

Disneyland says that starting January 9, 2023, “Indiana Jones Adventure” will be closed for refurbishment.

The attraction originally came about due to the success of the “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

It was so popular, Walt Disney Imagineering and George Lucas decided to collaborate once again to create a new Indiana Jones-themed attraction for Disneyland.

As seen on the sign above, the full name of the ride is “Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye,” and the attraction opened to the public on March 4, 1995 in Disneyland Park.

It has closed a few times over the years for refurbishment, and it has not been specified if any major changes will be made to the ride this time.

Disneyland has set a reopening date of sometime Spring 2023, which will definitely be in time for the newest film in the series, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” to hit theaters on June 30, 2023.

In the meantime, here is a full ride run-through to enjoy:

Disneyland will also be closing the water ride, “Grizzly River Run,” for refurbishment on January 9, 2023.

Located in Disney California Adventure, the attraction was closed this same time last year for refurbishment, as well, but no major changes were made.

No word if any changes will be made this time either.

Grizzly River Run” is one of the park’s original attractions, opening with Disney California Adventure on February 8, 2001.

It is scheduled to reopen from this latest refurbishment Spring 2023. Last year it reopened early March.

Other Things To Do

While it sucks having major rides out of commission, there will still be plenty of exciting things to do in January 2023.

Disney is kicking of its “Disney 100 Years of Wonder” (Disney100) Celebration on January 27, 2023, which is when Disneyland’s version of “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” will also open in Disneyland Park.

Meanwhile over at Disney California Adventure, the park kicks off its “Lunar New Year” Celebration on January 20, 2023.
