“Disney 100 Years of Wonder” (Disney100) will be the largest cross-company global celebration in the 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company, and it will kick off at Disneyland Resort on January 27, 2023.
Disney Parks around the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary, but the heart of the celebration will be at Disneyland Resort, with special limited-time offerings taking place throughout the resort all year long.
Here’s what Guests can expect when the event starts:
In honor of the 100th anniversary, Disneyland will receive new platinum-infused décor throughout the resort, including new sparkling looks for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (top photo), along with their pals, plus special food and beverage offerings, and more.
Merchandise offerings will also be released with the celebrations, including this Mickey Sipper Cup and this Denim Jacket:
Sleeping Beauty Castle
Walt Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty Castle will be adorned with elegant platinum banners and bunting, accented by a magnificent cabochon (faceted gemstone) featuring the three Good Fairies who illuminate it with their shimmering pixie dust.
Two majestic water fountains will also grace either side of the moat, while a beautiful wishing star will sparkle from the tower above.
At D23 Expo 2022, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared that two new nighttime spectaculars will be coming to Disneyland for the Disney100 celebration.
Both will debut on January 27, 2023.
Over at Disney California Adventure, “World of Color – One” will be an upgrade on a guest favorite.
It will tell a new story of how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. It brings some of the most courageous, loving, and inspiring characters to life in new ways. The show will also feature a new original song, “Start a Wave.”
D’Amaro said it’s going to be “World of Color” like you’ve never seen it before, with an all-new inspiring story told through some favorite characters.
Not to be outdone, Disneyland Park will be transformed at night with the new “Wonderous Journeys.”
It will feature nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, taking viewers on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. This spectacular will also feature an incredible new song, “It’s Wondrous.”
Continuing to build upon the park’s state-of-the-art projection effects, the show will turn Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of “it’s a small world,” and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas that brings characters to life all around the park.
Plus, on select nights, “Wonderous Journeys” will include fireworks in the sky above Disneyland.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
While Mickey’s Toontown is still on schedule to reopen after renovations for guests in spring 2023, “Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway” will open early with the start of the Disney100 Celebration.
More to Come
In addition to the reopening of Mickey’s Toontown, 2023 will bring more events and shows to Disneyland, like the long-awaited return of the “Magic Happens” parade, which will also happen in Spring 2023.
More announcements are expected prior to the Disney100 kick-off at Disneyland, and we’ll bring them to you as they are released.
Unfortunately, it’s not yet possible to make reservations for the start of the Disney100 celebration, as Disney has paused theme park reservation availability for Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park for dates beyond Jan. 8, 2023.
However, once we hear of reserations resuming, we’ll let you know.
