Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight Series Actor Dies in Skiing Accident

French actor Gaspard Ulliel, a star of Marvel’s upcoming “Moon Knight” series on Disney+, has died following a ski accident in his home country. He was 37.

In the “Moon Knight” series, Ulliel plays a character called Midnight Man. The character, real name Anton Mogart, was an art thief in the comics.

Following an altercation with Moon Knight, Mogart falls into a river which carries him through chemical waste in the sewer that melts his face, leaving him deformed. He then takes on the moniker of Midnight Man.

It is unknown how big a part Midnight Man plays in the storyline for the ‘Moon Knight’ series, but Ulliel had completed filming for the season prior to his death.

Ulliel is best known for portraying the young Hannibal Lecter in “Hannibal Rising” and fashion mogul Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic “Saint Laurent,” as well as being the face of the Chanel fragrance Bleu de Chanel.

He also won France’s prestigious Cesar Award for Most Promising Actor in 2004 for “A Very Long Engagement,” and Best Actor for his role in “It’s Only the End of the World.”

Marvel and Disney+ had just released the first full trailer for “Moon Knight” earlier this week, and announced the series will debut on the streamer March 30, 2022.

Our condolences go out to Ulliel’s family.
