The upcoming “National Treasures” series adaptation for Disney+ has added five actors to the cast.
Lyndon Smith (“Parenthood”), Zuri Reed (“Flatbush Misdemeanors”), Jake Austin Walker (“12 Mighty Orphans”), Antonio Cipriano (“Jagged Little Pill”), and Jordan Rodrigues (“Light as a Feather”) have been added as series regulars.
They’ll star opposite the already announced Lisette Alexis, who will play the lead character of Jess, a Latina whose brilliant and resourceful mind loves a good mystery, and who has a natural talent for solving puzzles.
Smith will play FBI Agent Ross, top of her class at Quantico, but after she made a near career-ending mistake, she was reassigned to the Baton Rouge field office, where she meets Jess.
Reed will play Tasha, Jess’ best friend who gets roped into helping Jess with her search. Rodrigues plays another of Jess’ best friends, Ethan, who is a Type-A rule follower and is secretly in love with Jess.
Cipriano portrays Oren, a lovable but self-obsessed goofball with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories, sneakers and business, and a potential love interest for Tasha.
Walker will play Liam, a struggling musician who comes from a long line of treasure hunters and joins up with Jess and her friends on the hunt for the treasure.
Over the course of the show, Jess will uncover her own buried history, as well as the truth about her parents and her connection to a long-lost Pan-American treasure.
The project, executive produced by the films’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Jon Turteltaub, and writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, is an expansion of the “National Treasure” movie franchise.
Production for the “National Treasure” series will start in early 2022.
