The upcoming “National Treasure” series for Disney+ has found its lead in actress Lisette Alexis.
Alexis will play Jess Morales, a 20-year-old Latina DREAMer who is described as “brilliant, resourceful and a lover of a good mystery with a natural aptitude for solving puzzles.”
Over the course of the series, Jess will uncover her own buried history and her connection to the aforementioned long-lost treasure.
Jerry Bruckheimer will produce the series, which is described as an extension of his movie series of the same name with actors Nicolas Cage, Justin Bartha, and Diane Kruger.
Disney+ has reportedly ordered 10 episodes of the series, which will be directed by Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding, Salaam Bombay!).
Lisette Alexis (pictured above) has previously starred in the “Total Eclipse” web series for digital network Brat, and the movie “We Need to Do Something.”
Production for the “National Treasure” series will start in early 2022, and many of the films’ original executive producers, directors and writers are attached to the television show.
