PHOTOS: Tomorrowland color scheme is being updated. Is this the future?

The future is looking bright again at the Magic Kingdom. Tomorrowland is in the middle of a refurbishment project that will see many of its buildings repainted with bright colors like teal, yellow, peach, and orange. Geometric color patterns on an off white wall

The new retro-vibe will also help the new TRON Roller Coaster feel like a better fit when it opens ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.

Work has already begun with a new color schemed being added to the shuttered Tomorrowland Speedway and in the areas around Mickey’s Star Traders, Merchant of Venus, and Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies.

Color is springing up all over. If you look close, you can also see where lines and blue tape indicate areas that will soon be painted, probably a different color and shape.

The painting started about two years ago with new color scheme for Carousel of Progress and the People Mover / Astro Orbiter platform. Since then the walls around Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor have been updated to include the remodeled Purple Wall and a new retro looking sign for the attraction.

The older Tomorrowland had a darker, more industrial look. This new vision is light, hopeful, optimistic. I like it.

What do you think about this brighter vision of the future?
