For all its famous talk of synergy, there is a surprising lack of cooperation between the parks and interactive divisions of the Walt Disney Company. Other than a small mostly-hidden, arcade in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there isn’t much right now. One would think that every room would have some Disney interactive game or another to tempt guests into adding it to their collection when they return home. You might even expect to have meet and greets with the most popular characters (Kingdom Hearts anyone?).
A new event at the perpetually frozen Blizzard Beach water park, could be the signs of a thaw in this chilly relationship. On July 29th Club Penguin Island, the recently relaunched mobile version of Disney’s popular game for pre-teens, will bring themed activities such as a penguin splash competition in the Ski Patrol area, coloring contests, and a ‘snowball’ toss with water balloons, to the water park.
