One of the many things that impressed me about Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” was the realistic world building. To truly create a believable world out of whole-cloth, the artists behind mega-movies like Guardians must focus on the details. There’s a ton of great detail… Read More »The Making of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Props and Costumes

This latest venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes us as far away from Earth and its Mightiest Heroes as we could possibly go, the only connecting point being Thanos, who we saw at the end of The Avengers but doesn’t play that much larger… Read More »Guardians of the Galaxy Review
Although things are not perfect at Disneyland Paris, it’s no question things are a lot better today than they were 4 years ago. A lot of that is owed to the leadership of Philippe Gas. “It was July 1923 … With that wonderful audacity of youth, I went to Hollywood, arriving there with just $40. It was a big day, the day I got on that Santa Fe California Limited. I was just free and happy.” That was Walt Disney looking back on the day he arrived in California, with a cardboard suitcase and an address for his older brother.
While Disneyland represents a detailed collection of times and places that existing as much in fantasy as they did in real life, Disney California Adventure’s recent makeover added that same level detail to a park much in need of some sparkle and shine. The crowning achievement of that makeover was Buena Vista Street. Not only the new opening scene for DCA, but it also tells the story of Walt Disney himself when he arrived in Los Angeles with only a few dollars to his name and dreams of opening a cartoon studio.
Disneyland has released a series of portraits for each land inside its two gates. Up first is Buena Vista Street. Join us below the jump and learn the inside details:
On Saturday, Marvel showed first footage of their upcoming blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron as the crowning piece of their SDCC’14 presentations. But their reveals weren’t just happening in the panels. Marvel also unveiled several props from the movie at their booth.
The first to be revealed was the Harley Davidson that Black Widow rides in the film, complete with Cap’s shield on the front:
As Once Upon A Time enters its fourth season on ABC, they shared the first images of the Frozen-inspired season of Once Upon a Time. We also have a look back on the show’s presence in San Diego during SDCC’14 on Saturday morning.
The SDCC panel included co-creators and executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, along with Lana Parrilla (Regina), Josh Dallas (David), Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook), Jared Gilmore (Henry), Robert Carlyle (Mr. Gold) and Jennifer Morrison (Emma). They discussed the upcoming season of new characters, new adventures and new rivalries.
During the panel, they debuted a clip featuring Frozen’s Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Anna (Elizabeth Lail) putting flowers on their parents’ gravestones. Apparently the Frozen storyline on the series will take place after the events of the hit Disney film.
They also showed a second clip, filmed a few days before SDCC’14, featuring what looked like Regina returning to her old ways. The clip also featured a return appearance by the Mirror (played again by Giancarlo Esposito).
Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow) couldn’t be there in person, but did send a lovely video greeting from the set of the show in Vancouver:
