Inside Disney World’s New Day Spas

Senses-3

Taking a trip to Walt Disney World? Have all your dining reservations booked, a list of your must-see attractions and shows, and Fastpass+ planned out? Whoa there partner. You’ve left out one of the most crucial parts of your vacation, the relaxation. You certainly can spend your Disney trip in commando-mode bouncing from location to location, but I recommend setting aside a little downtime where you can be pampered and find that relaxing moment you know you need. Afterwards, you’ll feel renewed and ready to take on the rest of Walt Disney World.

If that sounds like a good idea to you, two newly reimagined full-service spas at Walt Disney World Resort are set to take guests on a sensory journey designed to renew, relax and energize. Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort both feature unique looks and feel and have slightly different selections when it comes to treatments.

However, guests visiting either location between now and Feb 28 can usher in the new year with a seasonal menu of rejuvenating treatments that include a Chocolate and Strawberry Facial to tone, tighten and detoxify and a Mimosa Champagne Scrub and Body Wrap that hydrates and refines.

Here is more about the refreshing offerings that await guests at both spa locations:

Top Ten (Practical) Disney Splurges

When I first started writing this, I tried to think of all the really expensive things I’d like to do at Disney World, but the truth is, some of them made me uncomfortable because they seemed like a huge waste of money. Take the deluxe dining plan. Sure, I’d love to spend a few days just eating my way around Disney World, but besides the obvious discomfort that I’d probably experience at some point, to say nothing of how my pants might fit, it just seems like throwing money away. This got me thinking about what I would personally define as a splurge. It had to be something out of the ordinary, but it also had to have “value,” in the sense that even though I may have paid a lot for it, I felt that I got my money’s worth. With that in mind, I asked my followers on Facebook what they thought.

Here are our top ten practical Disney splurges.

1. Dinner at a signature restaurant. Yes, it costs about twice as much as a regular table-service restaurant, but the food is fantastic, the service some of the best you’ll encounter anywhere, and the surroundings are gorgeous.

2. Take a child to Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. I resisted this for as long as I could, but the look on my daughter’s face when she saw her hair and makeup was priceless.

3. Stay in a deluxe resort. Okay, we all agree that it’s only a place to lay your head at night, but just once, every Disney fan deserves to lay their head on a pillow in a really, really nice room.Read More »Top Ten (Practical) Disney Splurges

Aulani Grand Opening Ceremony Video

  • by

I was fortunate enough to be the guest of Disney for the opening of Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai’i. The place is fantastic.

Before the trip I wasn’t sure whether or not the magic of Hawai’i needed a touch of Disney’s, but the fit is seamless. The combined storytelling of the islands and the mouse make for an amazing adventure. Really. I’m already making plans to return with my family so that they can also enjoy all that Aulani has to offer.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort adding Health and Wellness Floor

Beginning November 2011 Disney’s Contemporary Resort will give guests yet another option to customize their dream vacations with Walt Disney World’s first health and wellness suites, combining the magic and fun of Disney theme parks with healthy and relaxing amenities at the deluxe resort.

This seems like the perfect fit for the Contemporary and will fit in well with the already modern room designs and amenities available to patrons. They will be replacing just the 14th floor, so it’s not a huge portion of the hotel given over to this concept, but it could be expanded later if it becomes popular.

Check below the jump for an interesting interview with a Disney representative who provides many more details about the new concept:
