Jaeyung Hyung, of Las Cruces, NM, Wins Fourth Annual Disneyland Half Marathon

Participants in the fourth annual Disneyland Half Marathon wound through the Disneyland Resort area and out into Anaheim itself. Some wore costumes and even paused for character interaction along the way.

Jaeyung Hyung, 38, of Las Cruces, N.M., (see below) celebrated his first-place finish Sunday, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:10:44 to lead the estimated field of nearly 12,000 participants.

“I really enjoyed running the race here,” Hyung said. “There were so many people, and Disney made it a lot of fun.”

Disneyland Half Marathon ready to run

The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend has reached capacity for its 4th consecutive year. That’s 18,000 participants taking place in various events around the Sept 4-6 weekend. Disney Fan Wins 3rd Annual Disneyland Half-Marathon

John Lucas wins Disneyland Half-MarathonJohn Lucas, winner of this morning’s half-marathon at Disneyland, is a real fan of Walt’s magical kingdom. He proposed to his then girlfriend at Disneyland and later honeymooned there as well. Lucas was so excited to run the half-marathon, he even set a new course record. Congrats to the Eugene, Oregon resident. Eugene is still track and field headquarters.

I love this picture of Lucas crossing the finish line. It looks like Mickey Mouse is so excited he’s levitating right off the ground. And check out the size of Minnie Mouse’s sneakers, I doubt she could run 10 feet in those.
