No Ordinary Family – Episode 1 Recap

Ed Note: Please welcome back Mark Baker who will be recapping No Ordinary Family on ABC the season (or as long as it lasts)…. When the new falls shows were being announced, the first one that caught my attention was ABC’s No Ordinary Family. While… Read More »No Ordinary Family – Episode 1 Recap

LOST – The Candidate – Season 6, Episode 14

Your normal excellent recap artist @oohamanda is on her own island tonight and unable to complete her button pushing duties. So I’m filling in. This was such an amazing episode, I had to watch every scene twice, if not more, to get everything. I’m sure there’s still stuff I missed too. So please help me fill in the blanks in the comments. Meanwhile here’s my lame attempt to fill oh_amanda’s shoes.

Just Four Hours of LOST left. Let’s dig in.

We open in our alternate LA timeline with Dr. Jack Shepard checking up on Locke who just came out of surgery. He got hit by a car driven by our Desmond, remember. Of course, Jack fixes Locke up fine from the accident and tells Locke he’s a ‘candidate’. Oh, there’s that word. A candidate for an expirimental surgery that might repair his spinal injury that paralyzes him. But for some reason Locke is not interested in the surgery. This, of course, only makes Jack (who must heal everybody) more interested in Locke’s case.

Now, we’re back on the Island and the gang is back together again (well pretty much). Jack was paddled over to Hydra Island by Sayid while Widmore’s henchmen try to stick Sawyer back in the Polar Bear cage. James is, of course, none to happy about that. None the less, Sawyer, Hurley, Kate, the Kwons, and pilot guy (why is he still around anyway? plot device?) end up in the cage.

Widmore tells them it’s for their own good and then inquires about whether the anti-blacksmokemonster fence is ready. It’s not, and Scottie in the engine room reports it will take an hour to fix. Captain Widmore tells him he hasn’t got that long, we need warp drive now … Smokey is on the way.

FlashForward – Premiere Episode Recap

  • by

Hi, my name is Barry. For the next several months, at least until D-Day, I will be along with you on the journey that is ABC’s new series “Flash Forward”. And hopefully for a while thereafter. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Before I… Read More »FlashForward – Premiere Episode Recap

The Unusual(s) Recap: 42

Welcome back to another week of “The Unusual(s) Recap.” This week’s episode is entitled “42” and when I saw that in my cable guide I immediately knew that this episode would have something major to do with the 42-year old Det. Banks.

As we have learned in the previous episodes, Det. Banks is obsessed with his own mortality and his own belief that he will die at the age of 42. He wears his bullet proof vest everywhere and even has covered his desk in foam padding, just in case. However, the episode started out with another of our favorite detectives taking a bullet…

The Unusual(s) Recap: Boorland Day

Editor: I’m pleased to welcome Joe Omundson to The Disney Blog as a guest author.

The Second Squad continues their unorthodox patrol of New York City in the second episode of ABC’s “The Unusuals.” If you missed John’s post from last week about the pilot, check it out!

The episode opens with a bank robbery ending with Det. Walsh (Jeremy Renner) tackling a robber holding a huge bag of money. The robber turns out to be a 17-year old honors student that just happens to belong to the wrong family. A string of robberies pop up and at one hold up the robbers left an onion. Yes, a big yellow onion in the big apple. This onion is the trademark of the Boorland family, hence the episode’s title, “Boorland Days”

Frescorts (Pushing Daisies 2.4)

I think Pushing Daisies started early last night. Or maybe my TIVO started late. At any rate, I came in to the show to see a woman pushing a baby stroller down the stairs. It took me a few minutes to realize it was Emerson Cod’s Mama! Wow, we’re just delving into everyone’s family life aren’t we?

Oh, I think I’m jumping ahead. Let’s see here, I’m trying to think of a creative way to recap Pushing Daisies. As we are getting more into characterization, I’m less interested in the murders (altho’ wow, last night’s was kinda gruesome.) and more into the Pie-relations.

So, let me give you a BRIEF rundown of the murder…we’ll do it backwards, with no mystery. So, if you didn’t watch, AVERT YOUR EYES NOW…

Oh, LOST! (Season 4 Finale)

There is just so much I want to yell out at the beginning of this post. (LOCKE! WALT! JIN! CLAIRE! MICHAEL!) My emotions literally ran the gamut while watching last night’s episode. There was not one wasted scene and it never ever stopped.

At the end of the last season’s finale, they shocked us with the Lostie’s future and those darned flashFORWARDs. I remember feeling like I had been to a funeral. I was wrung out! And even though we’ve had an entire season between these two finales, I feel like what we actually got last night was the Part 2 of LAST season’s finale.

We’ll do this a little differently today…this is about the 3rd time I’ve written this post. I’m trying NOT to make it as long as War & Peace. And get all the good stuff in there at the same time. So, we’ll do the micro-machine man on the basics, then get to the meat and the ALL CAPS and !!!! in a minute, ok?

The Oceanic Stinkin’ Six (Lost Season 4 Episode 12: There’s No Place Like Home Pt1)

Sorry I’m getting this out a little late, Losties, it’s because I had a big big day yesterday! But don’t worry, my partying can’t stop my Lost-love. I got home at midnight (after a pre-screening of Prince Caspian) and immediately sat down to watch Lost. Alone. My dear husband, the false fan, couldn’t stay up that late. So, against my previous warnings, I watched Lost before bed. I dreamed of Prince Caspian and Sawyer running through the jungle. So, I’ll try to stay on task…
