On a star-studded segment on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “Dancing With the Stars” revealed its celebrity dancers for its upcoming 20th season.
DWTS hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews got an assist from an excited Lara Spencer of GMA, to announce the new roster.
Here is the line-up of celebrities and their pro partners for the new season:
Noah Galloway with Sharna Burgess – Galloway is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq. He lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee in an IED attack, and currently serves as a motivational speaker. He says, “The biggest challenge will just be learning the dancing. I want to make my children proud.”
Robert Herjavec with Kym Johnson – Herjavec is recognized as the “nice” Shark on ABC’s hit show “Shark Tank.”
Patti LaBelle with Artem Chigvintsev – LaBelle’s strong and soulful voice has left an indelible mark all over the world. She has won many awards, including Grammys, for her music, but she is also known for her cooking, and her line of products, Patti’s Good Life.
Nastia Liukin with Derek Hough – Liukin is best known as Olympic All-Around Gold Medalist in gymnastics at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Hough, a previous winner, almost didn’t make this season due to performing in a show at Radio City Spring Spectacular in NYC. But he and Liukin will rehearse in NYC and commute to L.A. to dance in the weekly live show, then red-eye it back to NYC, where she also goes to school.
While other celebrity reality TV shows have come and gone, ABC’s Dancing With The Stars continues to go strong into it’s 19th season. For 2014 they’ve lined up a talented cast professionals that will be paired with a list of celebrity dancers that includes a fashion icon, a YouTube sensation, a NASCAR legend, and a movie star, to name a few. The stars will grace the ballroom floor for the first time on live national television with their professional partners during the two-hour season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars,” which airs Monday, September 15 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. One couple will be eliminated on the “Dancing with the Stars” results show the following day, on Tuesday, September 16 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET).
The thirteen professional dancers teaching the celebrity cast how to bring heat to the dance floor are Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Allison Holker, Derek Hough, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Emma Slater and Karina Smirnoff. Two-time Mirrorball champion and movie star Julianne Hough joins Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba at the judges’ desk.

Ladies and Gentlemen, get ready to start your toes a tapping for another season of ABC’s hit wonder “Dancing With The Stars.” This season will include a dynamic lineup of stars — two Olympic Gold Medalists, a game show host, a swimming legend and a teen pop star. All will get a professional partner to help them before their first live episode airs on Monday, March 17 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
In a first for “Dancing with the Stars,” the competition will feature a new game changing twist called “The Switch Up.” This season, America will be given the power to vote and change celebrities and professional dance pairings. This new rule will affect all couples as they will be required to switch partners at a point in the season. Never before have dance partnerships been split up during the course of competition.
As announced this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning America” by “Dancing with the Stars” hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, the 12 celebrities with their professional partners heading to the dance floor this season (in alphabetical order) are:
Billy Dee Williams & Emma Slater Candace Cameron Bure & Mark Ballas Charlie White & Sharna Burgess Cody Simpson & Witney Carson Danica McKellar & Valentin Chmerkovskiy Diana Nyad & Henry Byalikov Drew Carey & Cheryl Burke James Maslow & Peta Murgatroyd Meryl Davis & Maksim Chmerkovskiy NeNe Leakes & Tony Dovolani Sean Avery & Karina Smirnoff Amy Purdy & Derek Hough
I’m leaning toward Danica McKeller as an early favorite. She was most of Generation X’s first TV heart-throb. But Charlie White or Meryl Davis could take it all home too. And you can never count out Derek Hough and his partner. But how will the big twist shake things up? I guess we’ll find out. Who will you be watching for this season?
