Adventures by Disney adds a River Cruise

Adventures-by-Disney-River-
Adventures by Disney, the innovative guided group travel division, has announced the introduction of its first-ever river cruising itineraries. Sailing with AmaWaterways, the travel industry’s premier luxury river cruise line, Adventures by Disney river cruises offer a new way for families to experience the heart of Europe with Adventures by Disney’s trademark immersive level of service. Okay, it’s not a Disney Cruise Line river ship, but it is the next best thing.

The initial roll-out is just four sailings along the Danube River in the summer of 2016, plus one holiday themed sailing in December 2016. Each will give travelers the opportunity to experience iconic locations and hidden gems in eight destinations across four countries – Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.

The Adventures by Disney river cruise departures will take guests off the beaten path in search of the culture, art and unique stories intrinsic to each European city and town visited. From revisiting scenes from the movie “The Sound of Music” in Salzburg and exploring Devin Castle in Bratislava to taking a traditional Austrian folk dancing lesson in Melk, the opportunities for exploration are seemingly endless.

River cruises also offer maximum port time in each city, arriving at dawn and departing late night. That means more time for travelers to discover the destination through guided activities and individual exploration for a completely tailored and customizable vacation experience.

“Celebrating 10 years in the family tourism industry, Adventures by Disney is always looking for new ways to deliver extraordinary vacation experiences that are both memorable and effortless for our guests,” said Ken Potrock, senior vice president of Adventures by Disney. “Recognizing the untapped potential and broadening appeal of the river cruising market, we worked with AmaWaterways to provide families with an immersive, personalized experience unlike anything we’ve presented before.Read More »Adventures by Disney adds a River Cruise

Magical Winter Holidays with Disney Cruise Line

It might be a little too late to plan a Disney Cruise for this holiday season, but it’s not too late to start planning for next year’s. Just like in the parks, the Disney Cruise Line ships all have that extra little bit of sparkle and magic during the holiday season.

Here’s Cruise Director Clayton with a preview of what you can expect:

During these voyages through the new year, special stem-to-stern holiday events include:

  • NEW “Mickey’s Tree-Lighting Magic” in the atrium lobby on the first night of the cruise, where Disney characters lead holiday carols and the lighting of the glittering, three-deck-tall tree.
  • NEW “Santa’s Winter Wonderland Ball” in the atrium lobby, where Disney cruisers welcome the guests of honor, Santa and Mrs. Claus, with a grand celebration featuring Broadway-style entertainment, favorite Disney characters and classic holiday tunes. This evening of enchantment is made complete when a special pair of royal sisters joins the party and cause a flurry of “frozen” fun as a magical snowfall overtakes the atrium.
  • NEW “Storytime with Mrs. Claus” beneath the giant holiday tree, where children join Mrs. Claus for a cozy and intimate storytelling as she reads classic holiday tales. Returning this year, holiday storytellers will also share tales of Hanukkah and Kwanza.
  • NEW Dickens-inspired carolers carrying the spirit of the holidays throughout the ship while singing holiday classics, sometimes with the help of favorite Disney friends. At the end of the cruise, children will have the opportunity to join the carolers onstage for a special farewell show.
