Silent Protest

How do I love thee Disneyland, let me count the ways. I love that you were a part of my youth that can never be taken away. I love that you still provide someplace to retreat to when I need a break from the outside… Read More »Silent Protest

A Unionized Mouse

Two items on the union front today. First, and I don’t have a link for this yet, is news that Disneyland’s Security Department, which operates under a separate union from the hourly cast members, is picketing the park for unfair labor and negotiation tactics. They’re… Read More »A Unionized Mouse

The Great Hidden Mickey Quest

Disney Mike is on a quest to compile a complete list of all Hidden Mickey’s at Disneyland. Let’s help him out. What is a Hidden Mickey? According to HiddenMickeys.org it: started out as inside jokes among the Walt Disney Imagineers. A Hidden Mickey is an… Read More »The Great Hidden Mickey Quest

Hairy Elephante

As I posted earlier, Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently celebrated the birth of a baby elephant, Kianga (how is that pronounced? Key-a-wa?). Here’s a first hand report from one of the first cast members to see her. I’m very jealous.

Disneyland with Disabilities…

The Los Angeles Times continues in their coverage of Disneyland’s shifting policies concerning the Special Assistance Pass, now the Guest Assistance Pass. (The somewhat abused, but much needed pass that helped those with disabilities to enjoy their visit to Disneyland.)

One CM at WDW

Meet Dustin. Dustin is a Cast Member at Epcot. He’s part of the College Program and he has a blog. I’m fascinated by the experiences of everyday Cast Members. How do they motivate themselves everyday? What kind of jobs do they enjoy? What don’t they like about their work? etc…. I personally have never worked for the mouse, but I would like to someday when the timing is right. So in the meantime, I follow a number of these online journals placed out there for the world to read by Disney Cast Members.

When will they learn?

Rumors are again circulating about the demise of one of Disneyland’s most cherished, but least visited, attractions. Yes. The eyes of park management have turned once more toward Great Moments with Mr Lincoln and this time the famous attration’s fate may already be sealed.

What is known is that current announced plans for the celebration surrounding the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland call for Mr Lincoln to take a hiatus for the length of the celebration. Part of what’s leading to the rumors is that ever since Light Magic, The Keel Boats, and the Submarine Voyage (despite Marty Sklar’s famous speed bump on Harbor Blvd speach) all went on ‘hiatus’ and never came back, hiatus has become a Disney codeword for ‘sent out to pasture’ aka retired. Needless to say this revelation is causing the bunching of many a panty.
