Hey “Boy Meets World” fans, Disney Channel has officially placed an order for episodes of “Girl Meets World,” the comedy series followup from the original series. Starring are 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard (“Spy Kids All the Time in World in 4D”) as the girl — Riley Matthews — 14-year-old Sabrina Carpenter (“Sofia the First” voice cast and a newly signed Hollywood Records recording artist) as her best friend Maya, and Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage reprising the “Cory and Topanga” roles they made famous in ABC’s hugely popular sitcom “Boy Meets World” (1993-2000).

Boy Meets World Sequel Gets Green Light

Kids of the 90s rejoice, the powers that be at Disney have heard our pleas. It has been confirmed that Disney has officially ordered a pilot for a Boy Meets World sequel, the series is set to be called Girl Meets World.

News of the possible series spread like wildfire through the web after the initial announcement was made late last year. Who knew that “liking” all those Facebook petition pages to bring BMW back would actually work. I say this jokingly, but someone out there was listening because it’s happening.

We are not the only ones excited to see what has been going on with Cory and Topanga after all these years. Danielle Fishel (Topanga) and Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) have both gone on their different social media sites to confirm that they have signed up to be on the show and to express their happiness over the news.

When we last left Cory and Topanga we saw them married, finished with school and off to New York to explore new opportunities. Girl Meets World will pick up following the life of Cory and Topanga’s 13 year old daughter Riley (character yet to be cast).Read More »Boy Meets World Sequel Gets Green Light

Sofia The First and other Disney Channel reviews

November 18th was the premiere of “Sofia The First: Once Upon A Princess”, the TV movie that introduced the world to Sofia and is the precursor to the series coming to Disney Junior in January. Starring Ariel Winter, Sara Ramirez, Tim Gunn, Wayne Brady, and a slew of others, the show takes place in Enchancia, a land where Sofia’s mother has just married the king, thus making her a princess.

In the film, it goes through her trials and tribulations of becoming a princess, though she feels as if she doesn’t fit (which was explained in song, a welcome surprise for the film). In response to her tepidness, her new father gives her an amulet that for every good deed she does, will give her a gift in return (for example, she puts a baby bird back into its nest…gets the ability to talk to animals). She also has to deal with a mean step-sister (shocking, I know), an evil sorcerer (with a raven voiced by should-be-Disney-Legend Jim Cummings), and going to school at Royal Prep, the academy where all new royalty goes to study such things like manners and etiquette (with the teachers being Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, also a nice addition to the movie).
