Castle 4-14 Recap: The Blue Butterfly

When I first heard that Castle was going to do a tribute to film noir episode, I was a little worried about how it would turn out. Two mysteries from two different time periods don’t always work.

I shouldn’t have worried.

While not my favorite episode of the season, it was a blast from start to finish.Read More »Castle 4-14 Recap: The Blue Butterfly

Once Upon a Time 1-11: Fruit of the Poisonous Tree

Is it any wonder I love this show? This episode had me feeling sorry for Regina and agreeing with her at times but also so angry at her I wanted to yell at her. All this while learning the origins of someone else in Storybrooke and watching Emma behave stupidly.

Shall we get to it? Let’s start this week with the Fairy Tale KingdomRead More »Once Upon a Time 1-11: Fruit of the Poisonous Tree

Castle 4-13 Recap: An Embarrassment of B!tches

I have long been a fan of mysteries, although I tend to avoid the big franchise mystery shows. Instead, I’ve gotten hooked on Castle, the quirkly little show that is part procedural and part comedy. Yes, that’s right, a comedy mystery.

If you aren’t familiar with the premise, Richard Castle, as played by Nathan Fillion, is a best selling mystery author. He has teamed up with NYPD homicide inspector Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) to solve crimes. Officially, he’s there because he is basing his new series of novels on Beckett. Unofficially, there is unresolved sexual tension, and they are coming closer to admitting that, at least to themselves. Hey, it’s season four after all.

Castle and Beckett have fun trading barbs and banter as they solve the case, and the cases are often outlandish, making this sometimes more funny than mystery. Other weeks get very serious, especially if we are dealing with the still unsolved murder of Beckett’s mom.

If you aren’t familiar with the show, I highly recommend you head back and catch up starting with season one. It’s a hoot, and you’ll love it.

This week was certainly on the lighter side as we deal with the murder of a dog show judge who was strangled with a leash after a competition. And the prime suspect appears to be Kay Cappuccio, a reality show star who is famous because she is famous.

Warning, I do spoil the ending after the jump.Read More »Castle 4-13 Recap: An Embarrassment of B!tches

Once Upon a Time 1.10 – 7:10 AM Recap

It’s been a while since I recapped anything for this blog, but I’ve found that I missed it. Since I’ve fallen in love with Once Upon a Time, I thought I’d jump in and talk about that.

I always find it interesting how the world of TV works. This season we got two new shows with fairy tale elements to them. I watched them both for a couple of weeks, but Once Upon a Time is the one I stuck with because I like their twist on classic fairytales and I like how they parallel the modern, real world stories with the fairytale they are retelling. Yes, the Lost connections are everywhere behind the scenes, and since I didn’t like how that show ended, it does worry me some. I’m hoping since the guys behind this show weren’t ultimately responsible for Lost, I’ll wind up liking this one better.

Last week’s episode was the first miss for me, mainly because I just didn’t care about the outcome. We were focusing on new characters, and I’m more interested in the main cast at this point. So I was rewarded with last night’s episode in a big way.Read More »Once Upon a Time 1.10 – 7:10 AM Recap

No Ordinary Family 1-20: No Ordinary Beginning

This time I mean it. We really have reached the end of the first season of No Ordinary Family. Yes, they definitely set things up for a season two. However, if they don’t come back (and I’m not holding out much hope), they did wrap up several major plot threads and go out with a bang. They even killed off a character.

So let’s get to it, shall we?

The episode opens with George on a plane that is about to crash. As it goes toward the ground, we flash back to yesterday. Two things. First, I hate, hate, hate this storytelling devise. Really, the story is so boring you have to do something like that to peak our interest? Second, there’s no way this was just 24-36 hours. It really doesn’t make sense.

No really, I did like this episode.

The story really opens with JJ skateboarding. Read More »No Ordinary Family 1-20: No Ordinary Beginning

No Ordinary Family Episode 1-19: No Ordinary Future

Before we go any further, I’d like to point out that Saturday’s episode wasn’t the season final of No Ordinary Family. We’ve got one more episode coming on April 5th. And based on what we saw tonight, this show is going out with a bang.

I’m sorry I didn’t get to this one sooner. I had a busy weekend playing in an ultimate Frisbee tournament. (My team did well on Saturday but fell apart on Sunday.) But I watched it tonight, so let’s get to it.Read More »No Ordinary Family Episode 1-19: No Ordinary Future

No Ordinary Family 1-18: No Ordinary Animal

Well, things are certainly getting interesting for the Powell clan. In this episode, there are shocking revelations and they are hunted like animals by an animal of sorts. This is a good one, so hang on.

The episode starts with a random jogger in the park. Read More »No Ordinary Family 1-18: No Ordinary Animal

No Ordinary Family 1-17: No Ordinary Love

It’s interesting that we still don’t know much about what Dr. King is up to because this episode introduced a new villain. I already knew she’d be around for multiple episodes, and she is obviously going to make life interesting.

This episode? Well, it seems like it was supposed to introduce her, but it did feel like it was a little light.

Let’s get some of the sub-plots out of the way first, shall we?Read More »No Ordinary Family 1-17: No Ordinary Love
