Disney Legend Tim Allen To Headline New Sitcom For ABC

Actor Tim Allen has signed on to return to ABC to headline a new family comedy series.


The Details

The Disney Legend will star in the multi-camera show, tetatively called “Shifting Gears,” which centers on Matt (Allen), a stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop.

When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.

It could possibly be part of ABC’s 2024-2025 season. but hasn’t been added to the schedule yet.

The show comes from “Duncanville” co-creators Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Sully who executive produce with Last Man Standing executive producers Allen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker and Rick Messina and the series’ studio, 20th Television.

This marks the first pilot order for ABC this season, as well as Allen’s return to the network after headlining both “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing.” Both series are available to stream on Hulu


What About Santa?

Tim Allen currently stars in the Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses,” which aired its second season during 2023’s holiday season.

The show has yet to be renewed for a third season, but there’s still hope for fans as it could return for the 2025 holiday season.

If it is renewed, both shows would have to work around Allen’s busy schedule, which also includes reprising his role of Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 5,’ which is currently confirmed for a 2026 release.
