Hulu has announced the Oscar-nominated movies “Poor Things” and “Anatomy of a Fall” will be airing on the streamer in March 2024, and here’s what you need to know.

Poor Things

The latest from filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, “Poor Things” is nominated for 11 Oscars including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, and for Best Lead Actress for Emma Stone.

It will debut on Hulu on Thursday, March 7th, three days before the Oscars air on Sunday, March 10th.

The Searchlight Pictures film tells the tale and evolution of Bella Baxter (played by Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

This sci-fi award-winning film is definitely just for adults.

Anatomy of a Fall

Coming to Hulu later in the month is “Anatomy of a Fall,” a French legal drama that is up for five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director, and Best Lead Actress for Sandra Hüller.

According to the synopsis for the movie: For the past year, Sandra (played by Hüller), her husband Samuel (Samuel Theis), and their 11-year-old son Daniel (Milo Machado-Graner) have lived a secluded life in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead in the snow below their chalet, the police question whether he was murdered or committed suicide. Samuel’s suspicious death is presumed murder, and Sandra becomes the main suspect.

The film will debut on the streamer on Friday, March 22nd.
