Actress Auli’i Cravalho has confirmed vis her social media she is indeed returning to voice Moana in the upcoming animated sequel, “Moana 2.”

The Details

Earlier this month, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed “Moana 2” would be arriving in theaters in November 2024, but there was still a question mark if Auli’i Cravalho would reprise her role as the voice of Moana.

Yesterday, on her Instagram, Cravalho confirmed she was returning to Motunui as she jumps for joy in front of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building:

Last May, the actress told fans last May on social that she wasn’t planning to reprise the role of Moana in the live-action version of the movie.

“When I was cast as Moana at 14, it wonderfully changed my life and started my career,” she says in the Instagram video posted below. “In this live-action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital the casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell.”

I, for one, am happy she’s at least returning for the animated sequel!

Cravalho most recently appeared in the new film version of “Mean Girls,” as well as on the film’s soundtrack.
