Marvel has finally released the names for its main cast for the latest incarnation of “Fantastic Four,” and it’s an amazing list of talented actors.
The Cast
Meet the actors who make up Marvel’s superhero quartet:
Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic). Moving from a DC villain (“Wonder Woman 1984”) to a Marvel superhero, Pascal has amassed quite a number of high profile roles from “Game of Thrones” to his current role on HBO’s “The Last of Us,” as well as portraying “The Mandalorian,” which has a movie coming in the near future.
Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman). Kirby was most recently seen in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” but has also had roles in “The Crown,” and “Pieces of a Woman.”
Joseph Quinn will play Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch). Quinn was a breakout star as Eddie Munson on Season 4 of “Stranger Things.”
And Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). The actor recently won an Emmy for his role on FX’s “The Bear.”
This will be the third cast to play these characters on film. In 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of Silver Surfer” (both made by 20th Century Fox before Disney acquired the company) the cast was Ioan Gruffudd as Reed, Jessica Alba as Susan, Chris Evans as Johnny, and Michael Chiklis as Ben.
Marvel Studios also tried to reboot the quartet in 2015’s “Fantastic Four” with Miles Teller as Reed, Kate Mara as Susan, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny, and Jamie Bell as Ben, but that film didn’t do well at the box office.
Matt Shakman, who directed every episode of 2021’s “WandaVision,” wil be directing this new “Fantastic Four” reboot, based off of a script by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
New Date
In addition to revealing the main cast of the film, Marvel has announced its release date has changed.
It will still hit theaters in 2025, but it has switched dates with Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” movie.
“Fantastic Four” will now be released on July 25, 2025, and “Thunderbolts” will be released on May 2, 2025.
They are two of four Marvel films scheduled for next year, with “Captain America: Brave New World” on February 14th and “Blade” on November 7th, also on the calendar.
