The 51st Saturn Awards winners were announced this past weekend, recognizing the best in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror, and The Walt Disney Company received 11 awards for its genre titles.
The awards are presented annually by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, and James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” led on the film side with four awards, including Best Science Fiction Film.
Also receiving awards for film were “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.”
On the TV side, Marvel’s “Werewolf by Night,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” and “Star Wars: Andor” also received awards.
All winning titles are available to watch on Disney+.
Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni, whose storytelling skill has helped bring “Ahsoka,” “The Mandalorian,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” and other Star Wars series to life, was honored for his career achievements in animation and beyond with the George Pal Memorial Award at this year’s Saturn Awards, as well.
Named after legendary filmmaker and animator George Pal (“War of the Worlds,” “The Time Machine”) the George Pal Memorial Award is presented on rare occasions to a filmmaker who embodies a sense of wonder, imagination, and mastery of the fantastic in cinematic storytelling.
