Marvel Studios’ “What If… ?” anthology series just unspooled its season two over nine days starting December 22 on Disney+, and now we have our first look at one of the storylines for the show’s future third season.

The Details

Marvel Studios’ “What If… ?” is an animated anthology, in which each episodes takes favorite Marvel characters and reimagines their storylines, while a character known as The Watcher acts as the guide for the viewer on the various tales.

In season two, there were nine episodes with the following titles:

  • “What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?”
  • “What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”
  • “What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?”
  • “What If… Iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster?”
  • “What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?
  • “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?”
  • “What If… Hela Found the Ten Rings?”
  • “What If… the Avengers Assembled in 1602?”
  • “What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?”

Many of the live-action MCU actors returned to voice the same characters in this season’s episodes, such as Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Favreau, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Michael Douglas, and Karen Gillan.

And if you’re wondering who Kahhori is, well, for episode six, Marvel created the new superhero character just for this series.

Kahhori is a young Mohawk woman in pre-Colonial America who is given powers when the Tesseract crash-lands in a lake in what is now upstate New York. Marvel created the character in close collaboration with members of the Mohawk Nation, including historian Doug George and language expert Cecelia King, to ensure cultural authenticity.

Season Three

There is no release date for the upcoming Season Three, but this trailer confirms there will be one.

In it, we see the Winter Soldier and a younger (and shaven) Red Guardian (who both will also be seen in the live-action “Thunderbolts” movie due in theaters July 25, 2025) on a car ride when they encounter trouble with the authorities.
