Tiana’s Palace restaurant at Disneyland received its distinctive external features this week that will help recreate the restaurant from “The Princess and the Frog.”

The Details

Slated to open later this year, Tiana’s Palace restaurant received its marquee, wheelhouse, and two smokestacks topped with crown-shaped ornamentation giving the restaurant its distinctive shape inspired by the film.

The film designers of “The Princess and The Frog” took inspiration from the exterior of the original French Market Restaurant in New Orleans when designing the restaurant for the movie, and now Disneyland’s French Market Restaurant is becoming Tiana’s Palace.

To make sure it is as accurate as possible, Disney Imagineers are even partnering with Disney Animation artists from the original film in the design of the restaurant.

About the Restaurant

Tiana’s Palace will be a new quick-service restaurant offering authentic New Orleans flavors inspired by Tiana’s friends and adventures.

Disney says the menu will feature New Orleans classics alongside seasonal flavors.

To begin the transformation, French Market Restaurant and the adjacent the Mint Julep Bar closed on February 17, 2023.

Plans are for Tiana’s Palace, plus a revamped Mint Julep Bar (with its famous mint juleps and Mickey beignets), to open later this year.

The new restaurant will join the recently opened retail shop, Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets, and the upcoming attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (opening in 2024) in bringing “The Princess and the Frog” to life at Disneyland.
