Walt Disney Animation Studio, Pixar, and More to Showcase at 2023 Annecy International Animation Film Festival

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival has unveiled the line-up for its 2023 edition, running from June 11 to 17, and Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and more will be showcasing at the festival.


Disney 100

There will be several events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Animation Studios during the festival.

A new short from the studio, called “Once Upon A Studio,” by Trent Correy and Dan Abraham, will be screened during the opening ceremony.

Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee will return to Annecy to share details about the new original feature “Wish,” on which she is both an executive producer and a writer.

There will also be a screening of “Fantasia 2000” attended by Eric Goldberg, who is one of the directors on the film, and he will give a masterclass during the festival, as well.

Pixar

Pixar Animation Studios will present an early look at its first original series “Win or Lose,” ahead of its launch on Disney+. The studio will also present never-before-seen materials from its upcoming feature film, “Elemental.”


Lucasfilm

The studio will present “Star Wars: Visions – Behind the scenes of ‘Screecher’s Reach’, ‘In the Stars’ and ‘The Spy Dancer’,” a look at the creation of these three episodes from Volume 2 of the animated anthology.


Disney Television Animation

Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television and Orion Ross, Vice President of Animation for Disney EMEA, will be hosting a press conference announcing upcoming U.S. and European productions.

There will also be two panels hosted by Disney Television Animation during the festival:

The first, entitled “Building on Legacy” will explore the process of expanding Marvel and Disney properties to introduce them to new fans, through the examples of “The Proud Family,” “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” and “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.”

The second panel, “Learning the Ropes: A Guide to Creating the Next Big Disney Hit”, will feature Emmy Award winners Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh from the hit show “Phineas and Ferb.” They will be joined by emerging creatives behind the shows including “Kiff,” “SuperKitties,” and “Primos.”

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival takes place in Annecy, France, which is located in the south-eastern part of the country near the Swiss border.

The festival is open to the public, with tickets starting at 30 euros incl. VAT.
