We’re a little over a week out from the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” on May 5, 2023, and there are new Happy Meal toys available at McDonald’s to celebrate.
Each Happy Meal box includes one of eight super hero toys based on characters from the movie, and will be available for a limited time at participating restaurants nationwide, while supplies last.
The Toys
The characters available to collect are:
- Star-Lord (looking a bit like Doctor Strange)
- Nebula
- Drax
- Rocket
- Groot
- Mantis
- Adam Warlock
- Cosmos the Spacedog
Interestingly, there isn’t a toy of the High Evolutionary or Gamora.
Each toy stands on a grey base with connectors so the toys can be linked together. Most have slightly moveable arms, except Cosmos who has a slightly moveable tail, and Rocket and Groot which have a bit of a bobble-head thing going on.
The Packaging
It looks like the Happy Meal box features the Guardians image, with little pictures of the toys, and the apple slice packaging has Groot on them.
The Commercial
A new McDonald’s commercial features two kids on Knowhere (the Guardians’ current hangout) getting into a dance-off with Groot over the last apple slice in the meal. Surprisingly, none of the toys are featured.
Free Downloadables
The McDonald’s Happy Meal website at HappyMeal.com also has some free downloadable “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” activity sheets for the kids, along with a free game to play on a phone or tablet.
The Movie
The Guardians as we know them go on one last mission to save one of their own, going up against both the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), who holds the key to Rocket’s past, and Adam Warlock (Will Poulter).
The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sylvester Stallone and Maria Bakalova.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3” debuts in theaters on May 5, 2023.
