Today is the last day to eat at Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort at Walt Disney World before it closes for a lengthy refurbishment that will completely change the restaurant.
The Future of Trail’s End
This refurbishment will transform Trail’s End from a table service restaurant into a “marketplace” with expanded quick service options.
This marketplace concept will reopen sometime Summer 2023.
In the meantime, the official page for the restaurant suggests that P&J’s Southern Takeout mobile ordering and The Chuck Wagon food truck are available. And of course, there’s always Hoop-Dee-Doo for dinner.
The History
Trail’s End at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground first opened in 1974 as the Trail’s End Buffeteria. In the 2000’s it dropped the last part of the name, but kept the buffet menu. One for breakfast, and another for lunch and dinner service.
After Trail’s End reopened July 17, 2021, following the pandemic closure, it became a family-style buffet, where they would serve guests at the table instead of setting up food stations.
And after today, the restaurant will next open in the new quick service concept.
I have to admit, I miss the pre-pandemic breakfast buffet at Trail’s End. Those pulled pork benedicts and the french toast and cinnamon rolls with warm pecan maple syrup were worth the lengthy trip to get to the restaurant.
