A big change is coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground at Walt Disney World, as the cabin accommodations will become a new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property.

The Details

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort is projected to open in 2024, and would be the 17th Disney Vacation Club resort.

The proposed plan calls for more than 350 new cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort, which Disney says are approaching the end of their operational life.

Each new stand-alone cabin will offer spacious accommodations, sleeping up to six adults, and feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio, similar to the current cabins.

A select number of cabins are also expected to still be dog-friendly.

Disney says the design concept for the new accommodations will offer a fresh take on the current cabin experience, and are inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling. Pretty vague, right? The artist rendering on the top of this page gives an idea of some of the design changes.

They continued to say the DVC cabins would be located within the same footprint as the existing cabins, minimizing disruption to the environment during development, and are being built using energy-efficient construction and fabrication methods that support The Walt Disney Company’s environmental commitments.

Like all Disney Vacation Club properties, The Cabins will be open for reservations to guests who aren’t Disney Vacation Club members, based on inventory.

Additional information regarding project details, the start of sales, and rental bookings will be released at a later date.

No word on when the current cabins will be removed, but bookings are only showing available up through September 30, 2023.
