SWCE 2023: Star Wars Celebration Returns to Japan in 2025

Star Wars Celebration Returns to Japan in 2025

As Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 wrapped up, it was announced that the next Star Wars Celebration will take place in Japan in 2025, after the event takes a year off.

The Details

For the first time since 2008, the world’s biggest Star Wars fan event will return to the Makuhari Messe convention Center in Tokyo, Japan.

It will be held Friday, April 18 to Sunday, April 20 in 2025. Ticket details and on sale dates will be announced at a later date, but you definitely want to put this in your calendar if you’re a Star Wars fan.

One thing to note about the venue: While Makuhari Messe is wheelchair accessible, and rents them to guests, they do not rent ECV’s. If you need to use an ECV, you’ll have to bring your own or make arrangements.

Why Japan?

Star Wars creator George Lucas professed that he drew a lot of inspiration from Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa, considered one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema.

The country’s influence and culture influenced various aspects of Star Wars, such as the themes, stories, and characters.

Plus Lucasfilm and Disney want to bring the Celebration to fans around the world, and in 2025, it’s Japan’s turn to host again.

And in case you’re wondering…Tokyo Disney Resort is only about 40 minutes away from Makuhari Messe by city train.
