Marvel Studios has dropped the first look trailer for The Marvels, which serves as a sequel to both 2019’s Captain Marvel, and the Ms. Marvel series.
The Story
The Marvels is set after the adventures in Ms. Marvel, and finds Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence.
But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe, and when her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), who appeared to gain powers of her own at the end of the WandaVision series.
Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work with each other to save the universe. The only problem? The heroes are somehow linked together, and any time one of them uses their powers, they switch locations with one another.
The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Park Seo-joon, Saagar Shaikh, Zenoiba Shroff, Mohan Kapur, and Zawe Ashton.
Directed by Nia DaCosta and written Megan McDonnell, The Marvels is in theaters on November 10, 2023.
The Trailer
Set to the strains of Beastie Boys “Intergalactic,” we see Captain Monica in space, checking out something for Nick Fury (Jackson). Except the she doesn’t quite come back as herself.
Suddenly Carol finds herself in Kamala’s room, and Fury works to figure out what is happening.
We see more scenes of the three women learning to work together against a common foe…even the Flerken named Goose returns to help them out.
If only Kamala can stop fangirlling long enough…
