SWCE 2023: Star Wars Updates at the Disney Parks

SWCE 2023 - Star Tours

Big news has been revealed at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 (SWCE 2023) for film and TV, and they didn’t leave the Disney Parks out either.

Most of the panel was dedicated to discussing the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, as well as the Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

From new attraction destinations to new playlists, here’s what we learned about the near future of Star Wars at the Disney Parks.

Star Tours

In 2024, new stories and characters will be added to Star Tours at Disneyland park in California, Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and Disneyland Paris in France.

Details weren’t announced, but reportedly the destinations may involve some of the film and TV talked about during SWCE 2023. Hmmm…could we be visiting Mandalore? As soon as we find out, we’ll let you know.

Gaya

One of the many highlights of visiting the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is being entertained by galactic superstar Gaya.

Now all Star Wars fans will be able to enjoy Gaya as part of a new playlist will launch next month on streaming platforms to celebrate May the 4th.

For the collectors, Disney says they are also working on a special 12-inch vinyl pressing of Gaya’s music.

Galaxy’s Edge

The Mandalorian and Grogu made an in person appearance on the panel, and Walt Disney Imagineer Scott Trowbridge said more new characters will be coming later on to Galaxy’s Edge at the parks, but didn’t elaborate further.

In addition to The Mandalorian and Grogu, there have already been appearances by Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, so it’s possible that Ahsoka could be one of the new characters since her series is set in the same part of the Star Wars universe.

Though hats off to this cosplayer at SWCE 2023 for their General Greivous:

What other Star Wars characters would you like to see roaming the streets of Batuu? Let us know in the comments.

Sadly, no word of Star Wars Weekends returning to the parks, but maybe after taking a year off, we might get some news when Star Wars Celebration returns in 2025. With all of the series and films coming, and currently airing, it would be a great way to expand the Star Wars experience in the parks.

What other Star Wars news about the Disney Parks were you hoping they would announce? Let us know about that in the comments, as well.

Wrapping things up, Disney has released this promo video for the Star Wars attractions and experiences at the Disney Parks:
