‘Happily Ever After’ and ‘EPCOT Forever’ Return to Walt Disney World in April 2023

Happily Ever After

Walt Disney World is looking towards spring with the announcement of the return of the nighttime spectaculars “Happily Ever After” and “EPCOT Forever” in April 2023. Believe it or not, this announcement contains plenty of things that fans have been asking for.

Happily Ever After

Disney fans have been continually requesting the return of the popular “Happily Ever After” to Magic Kingdom, and it will return on April 3, 2023.

The nighttime show originally debuted at the Magic Kingdom on May 12, 2017, and included projection mapping across Cinderella Castle.

It was temporarily retired on September 29, 2021, to make way for the new show “Disney Enchantment,” created for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro had teased the return of the nighttime spectacular at D23 Expo 2022, even having singer-songwriter Jordan Fisher perform the title theme song live.

Disney says when “Happily Ever After” returns, it will also include all-new projections down Main Street, U.S.A.

The last night to enjoy “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom will be April 2, 2023.

EPCOT Forever

Also returning on April 3, 2023, is “EPCOT Forever” to the World Showcase Lagoon at the park for a limited time.

It was announced at D23 Expo 2023 that an all-new nighttime spectacular will debut at EPCOT later this year for the “Disney 100” celebration, and “EPCOT Forever” will serve as a bridge between the current show, “Harmonious” and this new currently untitled show.

Epcot Forever - Innovation

“EPCOT Forever” was originally created as a bridge between the long-running “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” and “Harmonious,” and debuted October 1, 2019.

The final “Harmonious” performance will be on April 2, after which Walt Disney World will conduct a phased removal of the barges and platforms from the lagoon (bye bye Chocolate Tacos & Stargate!).

Of course, if you find yourself missing it, you can always watch the live stream of “Harmonious” that aired on Disney+ this past summer.

Are you excited to see these shows return? Are you sad “Disney Enchantment” and “Harmonious” will be leaving? Let us know in the comments!

  1. About time, those barges are such an eye sort on the World Showcase lagoon.
No matter where you are, they are in sight and fugly!

  2. Absolutely gutted that Harmonious is going.
To be honest, I quickly got used to the barges and, in my opinion, the massive bright blue building that Guardians is in is just as much as an eyesore … although it’s an incredible ride.

Musically, it was brilliantly arranged, highlighting the different countries and languages that belong in World Showcase Lagoon.
Whatever new show they go for will have to be something special.

As they said in D23 – they need to “keep evolving” … weird that they are bringing Happily Ever After back though. Hmmm.
