Disney Parks Adds New Courtesy Section to Guest Rules Posted on Disneyland and Walt Disney World Websites/Apps

As a result of months of bad behavior in the parks, Disney Parks has added new a Courtesy section to the rules posted for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

New Rules

The courtesy rules were first spotted on the Walt Disney World website and app earlier this month, and were recently added to Disneyland’s.

Under the “Guest Courtesy and Attire Policies” section of Walt Disney World’s rules page, it now says:

“Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our Cast Members by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior, jumping lines or saving places in lines for others. For your safety and the safety of others, please refrain from running except in designated areas.”

On the Disneyland site, it now has a new courtesy section under “Top Things You Should Know” that says:

“We ask all who come to this happy place to treat others with respect, kindness and compassion.”

It then links to the “Guest Courtesy and Attire Policies” section which has the same statement as Walt Disney World.

Why Now?

The new rule is a result of bad behavior by guests which seems to have increased in frequency in 2022.

Disney has seen increased fights, line-cutting, and other altercations at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, started by guests, with some deliberately antagonizing and verbally abusing cast members to film for social media views.

I’m not posting links to any of those videos because I don’t think bad behaviour should be rewarded, but if you Google, you’ll find them.

I have cast member friends who in the past month have dealt with verbal abuse from guests because of something as simple as being out of a t-shirt size. One even had a basket of items thrown at her across a counter because the guest was upset the store didn’t have an item in stock.

This behavior is NOT ok, and I’m personally glad to see the parks put the courtesy rule in their guidelines.

The Disney parks have the right to deny admission or kick out a visitor without refund, liability, or compensation for failure to comply with their rules.

Courtesy is now a Disney rule.

  1. Way to go Disney!! It’s a shame that a rule has to be added. It doesn’t take much to just be KIND. Proud of Disney.
