‘Percy Jackson & The Olympians’ First Look Trailer Shown at D23 Expo 2022

Percy Jackson cast and Rick Riordan at D23 Expo 2022

Author Rick Riordan and the primary cast of the upcoming ‘Percy Jackson & The Olympians’ series on Disney+ revealed a first look trailer for the show at D23 Expo 2022.

About the Series

The “Percy Jackson & The Olympians” series is based on the Riordan book of the same name, and tells the story of Percy Jackson (Walter Scobell), a 12-year-old modern demigod, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.

Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus before it’s too late.

He is joined in his quest by his friends Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), the daughter of Athena, and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri), a satyr.

The adult cast includes Megan Mullally as Alecto/Ms. Dodds, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus/Mr. D, Glynn Turman as Chiron/Mr. Brunner, and Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson.

This series, coming to Disney+ in 2024, is very different from the two movies made in the 2010s. Riordan is heavily involved in all aspects of production, and the characters ages are the same as the books (not aged up like the films).

The Trailer

The very short teaser trailer opens with some narration from Percy himself, where he explains why being a Half-Blood, the child of a human parent and a Greek God, is dangerous.

“Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood. Being a half-blood is dangerous, it’s scary — most of the time it gets you killed,” Jackson says in the clip. “If you think you might be one of us, my advise is: Turn away while you still can.”
