James Cameron’s Academy Award®-winning 2009 epic adventure “Avatar,” the most successful film of all time, will return to theaters September 23rd in stunning 4K High Dynamic Range.
About the Film
“Avatar” took the world by storm when it first hit theaters in 2009.
Writer, director, and executive producer James Cameron took audiences to the distant moon of Pandora in the year 2154, and introduced them to visuals, graphics, and special effects that created unforgettable experiences.
On the lush alien world of Pandora live the Na’vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved.
Because the planet’s environment is poisonous, human/Na’vi hybrids, called Avatars, must link to human minds to allow for free movement on Pandora.
Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralyzed former Marine, becomes mobile again through one such Avatar, and falls in love with a Na’vi woman (Zoe Saldana). As a bond with her grows, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world.
“Avatar” also stars Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver.
Nominated for nine Academy Awards® including Best Picture and Best Director, the film won three Oscars® for Best Cinematography, Production Design and Visual Effects.
