We just got word a new restaurant called Summer House on the Lake is coming to Disney Springs in 2023.
It will be located on the West Side of Disney Springs in the space that formerly held Bongo’s Cuban Cafe, across from the AMC Disney 24 theaters.
For the longest time plans were for a Beatrix Restaurant to go there, but it will now be home to Summer House on the Lake, a spin-off of the popular Summer House Santa Monica restaurant brand out of Chicago.
Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants is behind this new eatery, as well as the Beatrix Restaurant, so I’m not sure of why the switch occurred.
From this exterior artist rendering of the building, it appears there will be a small outdoor patio seating area out front. No word if there will be patio seating in the back or any kind of view of the lake itself for diners to enjoy.
The concept art for Beatrix features a two-story design, while Summer House looks to be a single-story. The move to switch restaurant concepts might just be due to the cost savings in construction.
The website for Summer House Santa Monica states the menu is “California-inspired and focuses on market-driven ingredients, local and sustainable vendors, and seasonal specialties.
It’s nice to see some vegan and vegetarian items listed on the menu. That was one of the main attractions for the Beatrix dining concept coming to Disney Springs.
A recent video posted to Summer House Santa Monica’s Instagram shows some pasta, salads, and veggie dishes, along with wines and cocktails:
They also have some gourmet pizzas posted, like this Spring Pea & Pancetta pizza:
The interior photo shared in the Summer House on the Lake announcement shows an off-white interior and an upscale dining feel. Not sure how that will translate with the Disney Springs crowd, which is normally in t-shirts and shorts, but there are other upscale restaurants at Disney Springs like Morimoto Asia, and Jaleo, which is next door to where the new restaurant will be.
