It appears that the Marvel character of “Daredevil” will be getting another shot at a series, this time for Disney+.
The series is still in development, with “Covert Affairs” creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached to write and executive produce, so we’re still a long time out from seeing it on our screens, but it’s got fans of the character and its previous Marvel series excited.
Although there is no official word on casting, Marvel Studios doesn’t comment on projects in development, I think fans would riot if Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio weren’t brought back as Daredevil and his antagonist Kingpin.
Especially since Cox recently appeared as Daredevil’s alter-ego Matt Murdock in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and D’Onofrio portrayed the Kingpin character in the “Hawkeye” series.
Also adding fuel to the project is the recent reclaiming by Disney of all of the Marvel series that previously aired on Netflix, including the “Daredevil” series.
That series ran from 2015 until 2018, when it was cancelled in its third season, and it starred Cox and D’Onofrio among others.
Should this new “Daredevil” prove to be a success, it also opens the door for the return of Marvel’s other Hell’s Kitchen heroes – Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist…maybe even “The Punisher.”
The real question is how gritty can the new series get on Disney+, considering the Netflix series carry a TV-MA designation which prompted the streamer to update its existing Parental Controls in the U.S. This feature had already been implemented internationally.
