Shanghai Disney Temporarily Closes Again Due to Pandemic

Shanghai Disney

The Shanghai Disney Resort said today (March 20) it is temporarily closing due to the pandemic in China, beginning Monday, March 21, 2022.

A message was posted on its website stating:

“Due to the current pandemic situation, Shanghai Disney Resort, including Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown, and Wishing Star Park will be temporarily closed from Monday, March 21, 2022. We will continue to monitor the pandemic situation and consult local authorities, and will notify guests as soon as we have a confirmed date to resume operations.”

Earlier this month, Shanghai Disney started new pandemic protocols that took effect on March 12. These included controlled capacity, and proof of a negative Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) taken within 24 hours prior to entering Shanghai Disney.

China is currently fighting its biggest wave of locally transmitted COVID cases since 2020, and has already shut down schools and more nationwide.

As soon as we hear of a reopening date for Shanghai Disney, we’ll let you know.
