FIRST LOOK: Characters bring fun to A Touch of Disney, DCA’s limited-time event

Virtual menus, safe queues, mobile ordering, delicious food, carefully cleaned tables, and socially distanced encounters with some of your favorite Disney characters? That’s A Touch of Disney, the new limited offering special event at Disney California Adventure.

We were really excited to see some of Disney’s iconic walk-around characters out in rare costumes in this new video from the park. It also contains our first look at some of the food booths and dining areas for the event.

As you can see in the video, characters will be visible at a distance for safety reasons, but it looks like Disney is going the extra distance to make it fun and interactive.

Over in Pacific Wharf, Goofy and Max were spotted fishing looking like they walked right off the set of A Goofy Movie. Looks like they’re still perfecting the perfect cast.

These outfits were worn by Goofy and Max back on the opening day of DCA in 2001, but haven’t been seen during park hours since. Great to see them again.

Mickey Mouse showed up in his band camp costume along with his sweetheart Minnie Mouse and their dog Pluto.

Other characters and costumes will be spread throughout the event.

In the food department, A Touch of Disney offers a taste of the world-famous Disneyland Resort food and drinks fans love like churros, DOLE Whips, the mouth-watering Monte Cristo sandwich and more. Mobile Ordering via the Disneyland Mobile App is available throughout the park.

Update: If already you have tickets, be aware that you can now visit the Disneyland mobile app to see full menus and prices for the event.

The experience is underscored by a specially curated soundtrack of reimagined Disney songs broadcast throughout the park.

Sold Out?

Update: 03-17-2021: Disneyland confirms April 19th will be the last date and no more tickets will be released. The good news is the park will reopen for guests with rides on April 30th.

The first event is March 18, 2021 and dates through April 19 have been released. All dates sold out almost immediately. Tickets must be bought in advance online, but right now, no additional dates have been scheduled.

Originally, Disney stated that more tickets will be released on a rolling basis until the event ends. We don’t yet have a release date for more events and we may never get any due to one very good thing, the full park may be reopening in late April.

When will Disneyland Reopen?

We’re still waiting for a firmer opening date for both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Disney CEO Bob Chapek has said they’re working toward a late April opening.

Some cast members have already been called back from furlough and are receiving retraining to deal with the new COVID-19 protocols. So that’s a good sign.
