Portillo’s Fans Have to Wait A Bit Longer for a Taste of Chicago-style Hot Dogs in Orlando

Portillo’s is bringing its world famous Chicago-style Hot Dogs to Orlando in a restaurant located just north of Walt Disney World. Alas the opening has been delayed again and the restaurant won’t make its revised date of March 23, 2021.

Here’s the update we received today from Portillo’s:

The Portillo’s in Orlando is getting closer to opening, but we still need a little more time to make sure our restaurant is perfect for all our loyal fans. We will not be opening on March 23rd, and we aren’t prepared to announce a new opening date at this time.

As the first building to open on a brand-new development, there are a few more items on our to-do list before we can welcome everyone to our beautiful restaurant.

Hang in there, Orlando… our Italian Beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, and chocolate cake shakes are almost ready for you.

We drove by the Village at O-Town West location a few days ago and work was still going on in and around the restaurant, but there was also a lot of work going on in the development located at the corner of Palm Parkway and Daryl Carter Boulevard.

When the restaurant was originally announced Portillo’s CEO said, “We’re thrilled to expand our presence in Florida and be part of such an iconic community. This new restaurant will allow us to bring Portillo’s to long-time fans and first-time guests in the Orlando area, as well as serve the many tourists in one of the country’s most popular destinations.”

When the location finally opens it will have a double drive-through, a large outdoor dining space, and be the third location in Florida.

We’re told the location will set a new opening date in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
