Walt Disney’s Haunted Mansion is one of Disneyland’s most popular attractions and its theme song of “Grim Grinning Ghosts” is as iconic a piece of theme park music as you can get. Disney fans will be excited to see that Disneyland’s own Dapper Dans vocal group have returned with a new “Voices from Home” rendition of the spirited song.
Today is also the halfway point to Halloween which is celebrated across all Disney theme parks, but who really needs an excuse to listen to Disneyland’s Dapper Dans harmonizing, even from their own homes.
“Grim Grinning Ghosts” was composed by the great Buddy Baker with lyrics written by X Atencio. One of my first big interviews with a Disney Legend was with X Atencio back in 1999 for LaughingPlace.com. Of course we talked about his work on Haunted Mansion.
Thanks again to the vocal and creative talents of the Dapper Dans. Every song from the Dapper Dans and others like the Voices of Liberty, is like a little injection of pixie dust, we would normally get from our visits to Disney’s magical theme parks.
