Wonderful World of Animation – Behind the Scenes on digital projection show

Walt Disney World’s third theme park Disney-MGM Studios, now known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios, turns a whopping 30 years old on May 1st. The park is celebrating what is shaping up to be its biggest year yet with a slew of new openings including Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and a new nighttime projection show, just to name a few.

The new show, “Wonderful World of Animation,” turns Disney’s long legacy of animation into an all-new cinematic nighttime experience. State-of-the-art digital projections are mapped onto the Chinese Theater facade and other buildings for the new show.

A new video goes behind the scenes with Disney Parks Live Entertainment as they worked on the show. It’s a huge team that includes production, creative design, audio, video, lighting, musical, and special effects disciplines. They’ve been working overnight after the park closed to get everything show ready.

Here’s how Disney describes the “Wonderful World of Animation” show:

“Wonderful World of Animation” begins with the one-and-only Mickey Mouse, celebrating his starring role in “Fantasia” before launching into other sequences filled with magic, family, adventure, romance, villainy and friendship. Each theme is brought to life through unforgettable moments from Disney and Pixar animated films, from “Coco” and “The Incredibles” to “Sleeping Beauty” and “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

We can’t wait to see it and welcome Disney’s Hollywood Studios into its next decade of entertaining guests.
