2019 brings new logo, attractions to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

If you weren’t watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks live stream from the Magic Kingdom, you may have missed the debut of the special 30th anniversary logo for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park celebrates its 30th birthday on May 1 and the park will be celebrating all year long.

2019 will be one of the biggest years in the history of the park formerly known as Disney-MGM Studios.

Starting January 18, the Party with Pixar Pals special event begins. It features a dance party with The Incredibles on Pixar Avenue hosted by Edna Mode, of course, a chance to meet Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc. inside Walt Disney Presents, and of course the park is still celebrating the opening of Toy Story Land.

In the spring, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy will zoom into the building formerly known as Sunset Showcase. In the experience, Lightning McQueen will teach you about racing from his years of experience on the track. It’s the untold story of Lightning McQueen as told by himself!

Wonderful World of Animation, a new cinematic nighttime experience coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of the theme park’s 30th anniversary, will debut May 1. The show will use state-of-the-art technology to take you on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation, all beginning with Mickey.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open later this year. It’s the first-ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey and Minnie. The attraction will use new technology to put you inside the wacky, unpredictable world of the Mickey Mouse animated cartoon shorts. New technologies will transform the two-dimensional cartoon world into an astounding multi-dimensional experience.

Guests will have a new way of arriving at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when the Disney Skyliner opens. It will glide through the air delivering guests on round-trip adventures to either Epcot or Hollywood Studios from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the new Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Star Wars - Galaxy's Edge

Finally, in the fall Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will bring guests to a planet in a galaxy far, far away for the first time. Explore Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu where you’ll be immersed in the world of Star Wars. The land will feature two big new attractions – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Did you catch the big preview video last week?

Disney backed off the name change for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but maybe this new logo is an opportunity for the park to make another big change next year.
