Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort closed due to Hurricane Florence

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort has announced that they will be closed from today until at least September 17, 2018 due to the approaching wrath of Hurricane Florence. The Disney Vacation Club resort is located on the coast of South Carolina, right in the forecast target path of the storm.

If you’ve never been to Disney’s Hilton Head, it’s a beautiful island resort themed after a classic “South Carolina Lowcountry” 1940s era hunting and fishing lodge. Guests have access to 12 miles of beaches, biking and boating, and lots of other outdoor activities. This is where you go when you want to get away from it all.

Hilton Head was the third ever DVC resort to open, back when The Walt Disney Company envisioned a series of small Disney-themed resorts all around the world. Now, DVC is more like an enticement to lock visitors into frequent trips to Walt Disney World at their home resorts. There are currently 14 DVC resorts with a 15th, Riviera Resort, on the way.

Disney Vacation Club does have a hurricane policy in place for all its resorts. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with it if you plan to travel during peak hurricane season.
