Now open! 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa brings affordable Mexican food to Disney Springs’ Marketplace

The award-winning 4R Restaurant Group has opened its first Disney World location – the 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa food truck in the Marketplace at Disney Springs. The Mexican-inspired menu offers a variety of new signature dishes, including the Taco Cone, Tacos, Burrito Bowl, and Nachos filled with your choice of 4 Rivers award winning meats — brisket barbacoa, Nana’s port sofrito, chicken tinga, grilled tri-tip steak, or vegetarian black beans & rice.

The food truck was dedicated with a ribbon cutting featuring the new vice president of Disney Springs, Matt Simon:

“We’re honored to introduce the 4 Rivers brand to the incredible culinary lineup at Disney Springs,” said John Rivers, 4R Restaurant Group founder and CEO. “The 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa food truck is a great way for tourists from around the world to experience an authentic local brand. Our loyal fans will also be able to enjoy a variety of new dishes that are not currently available at any of our 4 Rivers Smokehouses.”

The 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa works something like a Chipotle location. You choose your vessel ( taco cone, burrito bowl, nachos style, or tacos) then choose your filling ( brisket barbacoa, Nana’s port sofrito, chicken tinga, grilled tri-tip steak, or vegetarian black beans & rice). Other menu items include a vegetarian squash blossom quesadilla, a cheese quesadilla for the kids, and tortilla chips with black beans and cilantro rice. For dessert enjoy Dule de Leche Churro balls or Chocolate Hazelnut Spread Nachos. Drinks include coca-cola sodas and three popular Mexican beer choices – Modelo, Corona Extra, and Dos Equis.

Portions are large and prices are reasonable at $10.99 for the main entrees, $9.99 for the Squash Blossom Quesadilla, and $5.99 for the kid’s option.

The barbacoa-style menu was developed with extensive research during a culinary adventure to Mexico City. It takes 4 Rivers signature meats, such as brisket and pulled pork, and then prepares them using traditional barbacoa techniques – methods with roots in the Caribbean and ultimately fine tuned in Mexico kitchens.

We’re excited to finally have an outpost of the 4 Rivers restaurant group at Walt Disney World. John Rivers has been a great member of the Orlando food community for years (he might even be partially credited for it’s recent resurgence). Fans of 4 Rivers will know their locations don’t open on Sundays, but that won’t work at Disney World. So the 4 Rivers Cantina Barbacoa food truck will be open on Sunday, but the net proceeds from sales every Sunday will go to support the 4R Foundation.
