Disney Cruise Line has canceled cruises scheduled for departure from Port Canaveral on September 8, 9, and 11, and has already announced they’ll be shortening in progress cruises for the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Both ships have already modified their itineraries to avoid severe weather in the Western Caribbean and Bahamas.
Guests who are on cruises that will be shortened will have their cruise pro-rated and refunds will be made via their original form of payment. They’ll also be eligible to book a future cruise between September 18 and October 18, 2017 at a 25% discount. Sailings are for later dates. (Corrected)
Disney Cruise Line didn’t have to offer that discount, but it would be nice to see them offer a wider window for redemption. For many families a Disney Cruise is a once in a lifetime experience and they’d have to make a big financial sacrifice to take advantage of that 25% discount.
That said, this move is being made out of an abundance of safety for guests, crew, and ship. If you plan to be anywhere near Florida in the next five to seven days please keep a close eye on the forecasts and prepare.
Coming from one family who planned to cruise on Fantasy on September, let us say THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! You are so appreciated for taking into consideration the thousands of lives that could be affected. Thank you for your wisdom and counsel. We will look forward to rescheduling our trip.
The one month window during Sept/Oct 2017 is for calling and making a future reservation – it is NOT the window for the actual future cruises. Please be sure to read carefully the announcement made by DCL before spreading false information.
Where is everyone going to stay when the ship docks back in Florida tomorrow? My little girl is with her dad on there and they have no idea…!

Wondering if I can transfer my 25% to a family member since I won’t be able to use it. I’m guessing not.?
