Disney hires mobile LED signs to promote Pandora – the world of Avatar

Disney is pulling out all the stops to get the word out about the new Pandora – The World of Avatar. Three mobile LED screen trucks have been spotted driving up and down International Drive and other tourist districts in the Orlando area.

In addition to showing a clip of a flying banshee from Avatar, the sign on the side of the truck reads “Fly on the back of a Banshee.” Other screens direct people to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom where they can find Pandora – The World of Avatar. It looks like there’s also a clip that shows the bio-luminescent forest from the Na’vi’ River Journey ride.

These mobile LED trucks are pretty cool. I hope they don’t stink of desperation too much.

This is the sort of advertisement you normally only see in New York City or Las Vegas. It’s a bit of a shock to see them promoting Disney’s new land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Perhaps word hasn’t yet spread that far beyond us big Disney fans.

Ask your neighbors and co-workers if they have heard of Pandora – The World of Avatar? If so, are they planning a trip to see it?

  1. I have always appreciated that Disney has class with regards to the marketing channels that it utilizing for advertising. Sadly this one falls into the category of tacky and makes me think of Las Vegas or “adult” entertainment. Let’s hope whoever came up with this idea is to cancel the agreement quickly.

  2. Given the huge crowd and 4 hour wait times when we went last Wednesday, I am guessing lots of people know about it already.
