Disney has released a number of songs from the soundtrack of the upcoming live-action adaption of Beauty and the Beast as audio-only videos. It’s a new cast, which means these aren’t the voices we’re used to hearing singing these songs. The music is available for purchase today, but you can listen online first:
The movie’s first big number “Belle” sung by Emma Watson, Luke Evans, and the ensemble.
Ewan McGregor serves up this rendition of Be Our Guest. He’s joined by Emma Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen and the cast of household objects in the Beast’s enchanted castle:
Emma Thompson’s rendition of the title song:
Celine Dion sings one of the new songs for the film “How does a moment last forever”
Dan Stevens performs “Evermore,” another new song for the film
Audra McDonald gets her chance to shine in “Aria” written for the movie by Alan Menken:
“Days in the Sun” is a replacement for “Human Again” sung by Adam Mitchell, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Emma Watson, Audra McDonald, and Clive Rowe:
Members of the cast, including Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Nathan Mack, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, performs “Something There”
Josh Gad, Luke Evans and ensemble perform “Gaston”:
Josh Gad, Luke Evans and ensemble perform “the mob song”:
Plus the finale featuring Audra McDonald, Emma Thompson, and the ensemble:
I’m trying to be fair and keep an open mind until I’ve seen the songs in the context of the film. The songs from the original animated feature have been such a large part of my life since 1991 it does feel a little like these are a set of imposters. Those who have seen the movie already seem impressed, so just hearing the songs without seeing the new movie seems a bit unfair.
You can download or order the soundtrack from Amazon where your purchase helps support The Disney Blog.

Well I’m loving Days in the Sun even though I love Human Again. Not sure about Celine’s How Does a Moment Last Forever. Was expecting more belting. I also like Evermore, but will have to see it in context of the film as If I Can’t Love Her is such a great song that closed Act 1 of the Broadway musical. Emma Thompson has such a beautiful voice. She’s starred in musicals on the West End (saw her in Me and My Girl in London). Audra has such a great voice. Cannot wait to see this film. I have a feeling that this movie is going to break records.
