Disney on Ice presents Follow Your Heart

Disney on Ice is the Feld Entertainment spectacular that travels the country filling arenas with kids and their parents for a whopping dose of Disney Magic. There’s a lot of great skating and a great message for kids who see the show. Many of your favorite Disney and Pixar characters are there, of course.

The new ‘Follow your Heart’ show is presented in two parts. Part one features the characters of Inside Out as they help Riley find the confidence to win a Hockey Championship. Along the way they use Riley’s memories of Disney movies to bolster her confidence and help her team win. Then after a brief intermission a second un-related section begins highlighting Toy Story, Finding Dory, and (finally the moment everyone in the audience under the age of 12 has been waiting for) Frozen.

Here are some video highlights from my seat:

What surprised me about the show was how much more than great skating there was. Ariel and Rapunzel both did some pretty amazing aerial acts (all while wearing skates mind you) and there was some great props and scenery along with a giant screen that added atmosphere to the show.

The show is targeted at younger kids who’ve probably seen some of these movies multiple times. But older kids (like myself) will appreciate the skill and artistry demonstrated by the cast and crew of the show. At the end the whole arena breaks out in song during the Frozen section, which is something by itself.
