The construction to squeeze in 14 acres of Star Wars themed fun at Disneyland has required the closure of a handful of attractions at the park. The new Star Wars themed land won’t be open until 2018 or 2019, but Disneyland says that the Rivers of America change will be finished by sometime in the Summer of 2017.
This will allow the following attractions to be reopened:
Disneyland Railroad
“Fantasmic!”
Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia
Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island
Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
The Disneyland Railroad will go along a newly configured Rivers of America and feature an elevated trestle that passes by gently cascading waterfalls and other scenic features.
Until next summer you can get a close up look at operating steam engines of the Disneyland Railroad at the Main Street and New Orleans Square stations.
