It’s a sad day at Universal Orlando Resort where workers are mourning the loss of two team members who were killed in the mass shooting at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

Luis Vielma, who worked at on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction at Islands of Adventure, and Xavier Serrano, who was a parade performer in the Super Star parade at Universal Studios Florida, were both added to the list of those killed. Serrano was also a regular performer in the Festival of The Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Live!.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling tweeted the following after hearing about the passing of Vielma:

After learning of Vielma’s death, Universal Resort leaders left statements of support on the company’s official social media accounts:

“We are deeply saddened over the lost of our Team Member. We are working to support his friends and colleagues here at Universal Orlando. Our thoughts and prayers are with Luis, his family, and all the victims of this tragedy.”

– Bill Davis, President and COO, Universal Orlando Resort.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this morning’s tragedy. We stand ready to help our community in any way we can.”

– Tom Williams, Chairman, Universal Parks & Resorts

Universal Orlando Resort team members have been posting messages of sadness and remembrances since learning of the passing of their friends. We wish their families, and the family of Orlando theme park workers the best in this very difficult time.
